Surf
By Carla Bustamante & Carla Gimeno
Surfing is a sport that was created in the 1700’s. It consists of riding down a breaking wave. Surfing has evolved over the years and surfers have discovered a lot of cities with better waves where they can surf. For example: Hawaii, California, Oahu… The most important surfers in the world are Kelly Slater, Aritz Aramburu, Gj Hoodgod...Kelly Slater is an American surfer who has won a lot of championships (Mundaka, Hossegor, Banzai Pipeline....) He is the best and the richest surfer! The youngest surfer in the championship is a Basque called Aritz Aramburu. When he was 3 years old he went to a surf school in Zarautz with famous retired surfers. There are a lot of championships in the world, but the most important is the ASP. Surf is dangerous for two reasons. The first one is to surf in a city whose beaches have (some) sharks, because they can bite you when you are on the board, thinking you are a fish. Moreover, if a wave breaks when you are surfing and you fall of into the sea, you can hit your head on a stone and die because of that.
